rate schedule
Ordinance No. 37 Water Rate Schedule of The Commissioners of Trappe, April 1, 1937. The document contains 8 pages but only the rate schedule is shown here.
It is not clear exactly when Trappe installed the first water meters, but meters were being used in 1937. By the early 1950s the meters were abandoned in place and customers were billed based on the number of spigots in the home, regardless of the amount of water used. Later on, the town would adopt a straight flat rate system where everyone would pay the same amount regardless of the number of spogots or amount used. That system remained in place until the water system was upgraded in 1998. [Robert Croswell]
