This is "Nace" Hopkins’ current tombstone (right) in the old Paradise Cemetery at the corner of Rt. 50 and Barber Rd. in Trappe, Md. His original tombstone (center), broken in two many years ago, was replaced by a modern tombstone erected by the Trappe Bicentennial Committee some years ago. Unfortunately the modern replacement only gives the years of his birth and death and copied none of the other information on the original. It also replaced Caroline Hopkins’ original tombstone (left). This was Hopkin’s wife Caroline and not his granddaughter, who was also named Caroline. The birth date for wife Caroline appears to be incorrect. Her certificate of death indicates that she was born June 20, 1820 and died March 07, 1912.

In Oct. 2014, the broken stones of Nathaniel Hopkins and his wife Caroline, were repaired and cleaned and replaced back in Old Paradise Cemetery.
