Defender House at 29241 Backtown Road just north of Trappe is a historical treasure, possibly dating from as early as 1815. In the year 1919, Anthony Adams established a cannery at this location and called it Defender Packing Co., from which the house takes its name. The Rural Life Museum of Trappe, Md.
